Around Deori
There are lots of heritage sites inside the Deori town – Deori Fort in Laxmi, Katakya Temple in Patel, Khanderaho Temple in Khanderaho, Panchmukhi Temple in Jhunku, Murlidhar Temple & Jankiram Temple in Sukhchain, and Deo- Lakshmi Temple in Gandhi.
Other than there are 10 smaller temples here, Since there are lots of historical temples in the town, it is also known as religious town of the state.
Deori Fort is an ancient monument of the town. It is an important landmark of the town. The town is believed to have been founded about 400 years ago by a chandel Raja to whom local tradition ascribes the present fort. Durga Singh, the Gond ruler of Gourjhamer who is known to have rebuilt the fort. With the passage of time, it has been
getting deteriorated. The fort is presently under heritage list of ASI.
In Sukhchain both rivers ie Sukhchain and Jhunku meet. This junction point of both rivers is famous by name of Sangham Ghat.
